From the fanfic phenom whose debut A Pound of Flesh had over 4.5 million reads, this sequel, An Ounce of Hope, tells the passionate love story of Carter’s best friend, Max.
Max O’Hare can’t seem to let go of his past: his drug habit, the end of his relationship with Lizzie Jordan, the woman he knows he’ll never get over, and the loss of their unborn son.
After successfully completing rehab and learning to explore his deepest fears and dreams through painting, Max meets Grace Brooks. With her innate optimism, and her love of art and photography, Grace appears to be the perfect girl. Yet no one knows where she came from, or why she keeps her past so closely guarded. Over time, Max and Grace gradually allow each other in—but will he ever be able to fully let go of his past? Or will his heart remain closed forever?

Review

Max O’Hare is trying his best to stay clean. He’s in rehab and needs to get better or else he’ll continue on the self-destructive path he was on. Thanks to Carter, his best friend, he’s in one of the best facilities to help him get there. But it’s not easy. Max has to face all of the demons and heartache of his past if he’s going to start to heal. And the last thing he needs or wants is a new woman in his life to complicate things. I loved Max. He’s strong, possessive, but had this vulnerable side to him that drew me in.

Enter the beautiful Grace Brooks. She’s moved to a small town and looking to start over. After she buys a run-down old house, she hires a local crew to start making it look better. She has her own past she’s trying to recover from. It’s hard for her to trust men, but she’s trying. When a new man appears on the construction crew working on her house, she takes notice of him. She’s also heard that he’s a recovering addict and knows she should stay away. Only she can’t. Grace is a character I had a lot of respect for. She went out on her own and built a new life.

Together Max and Grace start a routine of running and they become fast friends. Friends who learn to trust one another. Can two people with fears and other baggage move forward and explore what’s between them? Or will they let that keep them apart?

I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry was great, characters written in a way that really pulls you in, and I was left wondering what was going to happen next. I turned the pages quickly and couldn’t wait to see how the story ended. This book is a great addition to the series. I can’t wait to read the next one. – Reviewed by Michelle Dare

Review

Wes Carter is sexy as hell, and a convicted criminal. He’s volatile and intimidating. He’s also going to be up for parole soon. Carter knows he needs to get straight in prison so they will let him out. When offered a class within the prison, he doesn’t want it, but it’s his only shot.

Kat Lane is a teacher. She’s also a woman who has lost her father when she was very young and in a brutal way. Teaching at the prison is a way to give back, to do things like her father did. Her class starts off fine, until Carter comes in. He’s nasty to everyone around him. Kat stands her ground, though. One day he goes too far and gets kicked out of the class. Kat does the only thing she can think of – tutors him one on one.

The chemistry builds slowly. Little touches here, a graze of an arm there. Then Carter is released and they continue their sessions. Things go from zero to hot very quickly. The two have a passion not many will experience in their lifetimes. It isn’t that easy to be together. Kat’s not allowed to be with her students and Carter is on parole. Can they make it work? Will family and friends get in the way?

To say I loved this book is an understatement. It was AMAZING. Seriously. I couldn’t put it down. Everyone should read this. The romance, the heat, it’s off the charts. Great book! – Reviewed by Michelle Dare

An immortal assassin is caught between desire and duty...

A foundling raised in a world of humans

Growing up, orphaned Josephine didn’t know who or what she was—just that she was “bad,” an outcast with strange powers. Her baby brother Thaddeus was as perfect as she was flawed; protecting him became her entire life. The day he was taken away began Jo’s transition from angry girl...
to would-be superhero... to enchanting, ruthless villain.

A lethally sensual enforcer on a mission
A threat to the Møriør has brought archer Rune the Baneblood to the mortal realm to slay the oldest living Valkyrie. Whether by bow or in bed, he never fails to eliminate his target. Yet before he can strike, he encounters a vampiric creature whose beauty conceals a black heart. With one bite, she pierces him with aching pleasure, taking his forbidden blood -
and jeopardizing the secrets of his brethren.
A boundless passion that will lead to sweet ruin...

Could this exquisite female be a spy sent by the very Valkyrie he hunts? Rune knows he must not trust Josephine, yet he’s unable to turn her away. Despite his millennia of sexual conquests, he can’t ignore the unfamiliar longing she arouses deep within him.
When Jo betrays the identity of the one man she will die to protect, she and Rune become locked in a treacherous battle of wills that pits ultimate loyalty against unbridled lust.

Review

Josephine has had a rough life. She doesn’t remember part of her past, the only person in her life is her baby brother, and then she finds out she’s not human. She’s forced to leave her brother behind since he stopped recognizing her once she became a ghost. Only there is more to her.

She lives her life through other people, only hoping to find someone permanent to stand by her side. Enter Rune. He’s instantly attracted to her, but he doesn’t want the commitment. He has a job to do and won’t let her get in his way.

Together the two must battle the amazing Nix. Yes, I love her and all of her crazy ways. Jo and Rune go around the world trying to find the elusive Valkyrie to put an end to her. They also soon have to deal with what’s happening between them. Can they get their hands on Nix? Are they more than a casual fling between the sheets? What about Jo’s brother? All of this will be revealed and more.

Let me start by saying that this is one of my favorite series. I couldn’t wait to read it. What I loved: the chemistry between Jo and Rune, having Nix in the story, learning more about another group of immortals. There was plenty of suspense which I loved.

On the flip side, the story started off slow, but did soon find a steady pace. I also wanted more of the other immortals. They seemed to be absent from this book, whereas others you get a lot more of the IAD world. I also wish that Rune and Jo would have had sex earlier on in the book so we got to see more of Rune’s possessive side. It’s one of the things I love about the IAD males. They are true alphas. While we did see that side of him, it was brief. I really can’t wait to read Nix’s book and would love another Dacian story. So many characters we have yet to read about. All in all the story was good. I’m looking forward to the next IAD book. – Reviewed by Michelle Dare
