About DRAGON KING: A Dark Kings Novella:
A Woman on a Mission
Grace Clark has always done things safe. She’s never colored outside of the law, but she has a book due and has found the perfect spot to break through her writer’s block. Or so she thinks. Right up until Arian suddenly appears and tries to force her away from the mountain. Unaware of the war she just stumbled into, Grace doesn’t just discover the perfect place to write, she finds Arian—the most gorgeous, enticing, mysterious man she’s ever met.
A King with a Purpose
Arian is a Dragon King who has slept away centuries in his cave. Recently woken, he’s about to leave his mountain to join his brethren in a war when he’s alerted that someone has crossed onto Dreagan. He’s ready to fight . . . until he sees the woman. She’s innocent and mortal—and she sets his blood aflame. He recognizes the danger approaching her just as the dragon within him demands he claim her for his own…
I’ve been seeing quite a few dragon shifter books and I generally love paranormal as well as books that involve shifters. Initially I was hesitant in regards to the idea of a dragon shifter, especially considering I had read a couple prior to Dragon King. I wanted to give Dragon King a chance because I had heard of Donna Grant’s name and have been wanting to read her stories and the 1001 Dark Nights Series allows the readers a chance to “sample” the authors work while diving into the world/series without being full invested with them being novellas.
I can absolutely say I REALLY enjoyed Dragon King. I love how well the plot was written, being able to read this book as a stand alone but wanting to know more about the series. The connection that both Arian (The Dragon King) and Grace (The Human Heroine) was fairly quick but explained in a way that made me as a reader understand the reason for it. They are both magnetic in their own ways and are constantly drawn to one another in a sense of love at first sight.
Arian comes off the pages as this sexy, masculine, and noble dragon that protects his family first and will go to extremes to do so until Grace accidentally stumbles into his sanctuary. While Arian suspicious of her, he can’t help but be drawn to her. He will reach a crossroads where he will need to answer to the other dragon kings if he caves and claims her or to treat her as the enemy that is after him and his kind considering the dragons have been betrayed before.
Grace is an author on a deadline, just wanting to have some peace and searching for inspiration to turn in a book that’s on a deadline, she finds herself in a cave with a man that’s puts all her senses on alert, she’s drawn to him but she slightly self conscious of herself as well as her constant distraction of her fear. A fear that Arian notices and has taken note.
Absolutely a book that should be read and not turned away. Leaves a reader excited of the world the Donna has built as well as wanting to know more of the Dark King Series.
Donna Grant is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the sizzling Dark King series featuring dragons, immortal Highlanders, and the Fae.
She was born and raised in Texas but loves to travel. Her adventures have taken her throughout the United States as well as to Jamaica, Mexico, and Scotland. Growing up on the Texas/Louisiana border, Donna’s Cajun side of the family taught her the “spicy” side of life while her Texas roots gave her two-steppin’ and bareback riding.
Despite deadlines and voracious reading, Donna still manages to keep up with her two children, four cats, and one long haired Chihuahua.
