Outfielder Tristan Murrell has a problem. As the number two slugger for the Suttonville Sentinels, his team is counting on him to make their very first run at the state championship. But he has a secret—his swing has totally deserted him. As in, he can’t hit anything. He needs to fix the issue, and fast, but how?
Ballerina Alyssa Kaplan has a problem, too. The shiny new sports complex in town has left her family’s batting cage business on the verge of going under. Nailing her audition for a prestigious dance company is everything, but there’s no way she’s letting her some shiny big-box company destroy her family’s livelihood.
Tristan needs a miracle. So does Alyssa. And maybe, just maybe, Tristan’s secret weapon might be the girl of his dreams…
Disclaimer: This book contains hot, shirtless baseball players, kisses that bring a ballerina to her knees, and a lot of baseball smack-talk.

4.5 Stars

I loved book one of this series, and couldn’t wait to jump into this.

Alyssa Kaplan loves working at her family’s business. They have indoor batting cages, but the business isn’t doing well thanks to the new sports complex in town. Then one day one of the players on the high school team comes in and everything changes.

Tristan Murrell has been having a horrible time hitting. He’s too wrapped up in his head and can’t seem to hit. He doesn’t want the team to know how bad he’s struggling, so he goes to the small batting cages that the team doesn’t usually use. It’s there he meets Alyssa, and once he does, he can’t stop thinking about her.

Alyssa is able to help Tristan with batting, having played softball in the past. She can’t help but notice how attractive he is, but she thinks she’s average – nothing special. Once they realize they have feelings for each other, a lot happens. A lot you don’t want to miss.

I really enjoyed this book. The story was fast paced and sucked me in from the very start. Tristan was a great character, and I loved how Alyssa fit with him. Together, they were perfect. I also enjoyed how the main characters from book one also played a part in it. All-in-all, a great read. -Reviewed by Michelle

Baseball player Kyle Sawyer has many labels: bad boy, delinquent, ladies’ man, fearless outfielder… Only one of them is actually true. But then sweet ballet dancer Faith Gladwell asks him to help wreck her reputation, and everything goes sideways.
Faith knows a thing or two about love, and what she had with her cheating jerk of an ex wasn’t it. When he starts spreading rumors about her being an Ice Queen, Faith decides it’s time to let a little bad into her life.
Lucky for her, Kyle Sawyer—dark, dangerous, totally swoonworthy Kyle Sawyer—is landscaping her backyard over Spring Break. Shirtless. And if she can convince him to play along, “dating” Kyle will silence the rumors.
But Faith’s plan threatens to expose Sawyer’s biggest secret of all…and that’s a risk he’s not willing to take.

Review

This book pulled me in from the very first page and I read it one sitting.

Kyle Sawyer has the whole bad boy thing down. Guys stay away from him, girls try to get his attention. Most of all, he wants to be left alone. There are so many rumors flying around about him, it’s hard to keep track of them all. What most don’t know is that he loves landscaping. When he lands a new job fixing up a backyard, he doesn’t expect to see a beautiful girl emerge with an offer he can’t refuse.

Faith Gladwell has rumors spreading about her that aren’t true. She needs to rectify the situation and what better way to do that than with the help of the shirtless guy currently tearing apart her backyard. When Kyle agrees to help her out, she’s surprised to find out there’s more to this bad boy than meets the eye.

Lies, fear, trust, and love all come together in this great read. What will happen with Kyle starts to feel something for Faith? Will she want to know everything about him, or is this truly just a game of revenge?

I have a love of YA. I could read the genre every single day. This book does not disappoint. The characters are well developed and the story plays out perfectly. I couldn’t help but fall for Kyle and be sympathetic to all he and Faith were going through. Great story! – Reviewed by Michelle Dare

Her life in a tailspin, Genna turns to the only solace that eases her pain: Vicodin.

Review

Sidelined has a very touching and addicting story line. I really enjoyed reading about Genna and her life of hardships, addictions, and relationships. What she experienced would be hard for anyone to fathom, much less having to live. Experiencing a tramatic occurrence would take strength and most of all determination. Watching Genna battle her way through this new life was enjoyable, heartaching, and gave a hard outlook on struggles people may have to go through in real life.

Genna is a high school senior whose life revolves around Basketball. When tragedy strikes in more ways than one she turns down a rough road. A road that takes time to get down, with struggles and encouragement along the way.

This book will definitely have you looking at life in a new way. Overall I really enjoyed this book. the friendships were fun, the parents were loving in their own ways, and the author did a great job pulling this book off. – Reviewed by Nikki Wooten
